It’s been another bumper year at the SA Publication Forum Awards for Mikateko Media, who walked away with two awards and 26 certificates of merit. ONE magazine, the internal publication for staff of Transnet, won the award for Best Internal Magazine for the second time. Masihambe, also a Transnet publication, won the Loretta Steyn Award for Best Publication Cover. The same honour went to Juice (also produced by Mikateko) last year.

“To have our work so well received is something that we do not take for granted. We are absolutely delighted,” says Desireé Johnson, managing director. “We pride ourselves on producing work that delivers results for our clients. To be also highly regarded by our peers, is an honour.”

Derrick van der Walt, the organiser of the competition, said that they were very impressed with Mikateko’s entries this year. “ONE has always been a strong contender and should be an example to other companies, as it involves the entire personnel. Mikateko’s publications are good across the board. They display editorial enthusiasm and know how to involve their readers.”

The SA Publication Forum Awards recognise excellence in internal and corporate communication media. The competition looks at the categories of writing, communication, design and photography.

The Mikateko team intends to apply the judges’ feedback to deliver even stronger products for clients.
