Mikateko Media recently hosted its first Financial Fitness event for Black Women in Business on 14 July 2016 in Cape Town. The event, which was sponsored by Old Mutual, Mazars and Mango Airline, was the first in a series of financial fitness events aimed at female entrepreneurs.
Small businesses are a key driver of the South African economy and a leading contributor to job creation and poverty alleviation. The event was aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs to become more financially fit, and to promote the importance of understanding your company’s financials.
Nearly 200 entrepreneurs and other women in business attended the event at Mutual Park in Pinelands. Delegates were addressed by several leading women in business, namely Helene Africa (Provincial Manager: Mass Foundation Cluster, Old Mutual), Pumeza Nyaba (Senior Learning Facilitator: Old Mutual), Iris Cupido (CEO: SABC Foundation), Bongiwe Mbunge (Senior Manager: Mazars), Elizabeth Matlakala Certified Financial Planner), Zandile Nzalo (Founder and CEO: Zanenza) and Sonia Booth (Entrepreneur and Author).
